Electronic taxi brokers expand joint services
Berlin/Paris November 7, 2014 – The taxi.eu and eCab taxi apps have agreed to cooperate. The cooperation enables customers of the respective taxi app to use their smartphone applications in both Berlin and Paris to order a taxi quickly and easily. taxi.eu uses the technology of Taxi Berlin with around 5,700 connected vehicles, eCab in Paris via Taxis G7 around 7,600 vehicles. The mutual service is to be integrated into the technology of the two apps from spring 2015, as the cooperation partners announced today during the European Taxi Fair in Cologne.
Both providers see the brokerage service via smartphone as an opportunity for the taxi industry to expand the already existing innovative service for customers from the taxi market. “With eCab we have a like-minded partner in Paris, which is in line with our strategy from the industry to create innovative offers for our passengers. With this cooperation we are jointly expanding our respective networks for the benefit of our customers”, says Hermann Waldner, managing director and founder of taxi.eu. “Berlin is an attractive market. eCab users will soon be able to use our high-quality taxi service in another metropolis via smartphone. We are continuously expanding our network,” says Vincent Stammbach, Managing Director, eCab.
taxi.eu is operated by fms Systems GmbH based in Berlin and Vienna. For taxi.eu, the cooperation with eCab is a continuous continuation of the current strategy, which aims to offer a uniform and customer-friendly taxi service via smartphone across Europe and neighbouring countries.
The application is based on the IT-based fleet management of the provider FMS GmbH, which is used by numerous taxi centres on the European continent. taxi.eu has been designed as an app for taxi centres, the services are integrated into the existing exchange systems. The smartphone application works with over 130 taxi centres in more than 100 cities. More than 62,000 taxis with around 160,000 taxi drivers currently drive for taxi.eu in ten European countries, including the national cities of Luxembourg, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Prague, Vienna and Berlin as well as the Swiss centres of Basel, Geneva, Lausanne and Zurich and Lyon in France. In all countries, the app works in accordance with national legislation. In 4,500 German cities and municipalities, the taxi app also connects directly to the nearest regional taxi exchange.
eCab is a worldwide association of taxi centres, for a modern and simple exchange service. The service is currently available in Canada and India and in Europe in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, Ireland and Germany.
